I saw a couple of new signs along Route 195 today. That's the generally very boring road that makes up a good part of my daily 116-mile round-trip commute.
Anyway, I drove past the signs too quickly to read them, but I did notice the words "Eco-," and "Mow" (or maybe it was "No-Mow"?) and saw pictures of an owl and flowers on them. Combined with the fact that the grass on the side of the road near the signs was much longer than in other areas, I surmised this is some type of environmentally-friendly method of letting nature be, in order to provide habitat and food for some of our wild neighbors.
Normally I'd like this idea. But I have to call it STUPID in light of the fact that today alone, I saw at least fifteen new dead animals along this highway since the last time I drove it four days ago. Deer (venison, anyone?), raccoons, possums, groundhogs, a seagull, and a skunk. I have to think at least one of those probably caused an accident or near-accident.
So encouraging more wildlife along this road is someone's idea of a good thing?
Must be our NJ Government at work again.
I was driving home from a little shopping excursion the other day and saw a huge ass billboard with a picture of a motorcycle, and some guy's photo and it says, "INATTENTION KILLS! MOTORCYCLES ARE EVERYWHERE!"
How ironic is it that my attention was off of the road and focused on the billboard when their message is to PAY ATTENTION WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING?
*sigh*
